Now I know you are supposed to mix the whole recipe in the skillet and that is the beauty of the recipe. I mix mine in the mixing bowl and then put it into the skillet. You don’t have to butter/flour the skillet because it is a cast iron skillet and it’s supposed to be seasoned. If you are using a regular non-stick, oven-proof skillet, you don’t have to butter/flour it because you melt the butter in the pan for the recipe. I guess I’m just a really messy mixer and don’t want to lose a drop of this delicious concoction.

When I first open a jar of Nutella, my eyes glaze over. I swear they do! My heart rate increases and I begin smiling ridiculously. I remember all the Nutella sandwiches I ate when I was little in Sicily.

1 cup unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons Nutella
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Melt the butter in the cast iron skillet (or non-stick, oven-proof skillet) on top of stove on medium-low heat. I used an 8 inch cast iron skillet. In a small bowl, combine the flour and cocoa powder. When the butter has melted, pour it into a medium sized metal mixing bowl. Add the sugar to the melted butter and beat until combines. Next, beat the eggs, vanilla, and salt into the butter mixture until smooth. Mix in the flour/cocoa powder mixture. Fold in the 3 tablespoons of Nutella. Refrain from eating the Nutella off the measuring spoons.
Spread the batter into the cast iron skillet and bake for about 30-40 minutes.
These brownies are very moist. You can be assured that it is not going to be dry. Look at all the butter and Nutella that you put in it!
