Genoa Cruise Port is 5–10 minutes on foot from downtown. But a taxi or shuttle from the dock is often easier and safer. Trains connect Genoa to major Italian cities, with the station just a 5-minute drive from the port.
The ports have four cruise terminals: Ponte dei Mille and Ponte Andrea Doria in Genoa, run by Stazioni Marittime Genova SpA. They feature 4 dedicated docks: 340m, 290m, and two 300m each.
Genoa, on the Gulf in the Ligurian Sea, has long been a key Mediterranean port. It's now Italy's busiest, tops in the Mediterranean, and twelfth in the European Union.
Genoa, often missed, boasts great structures: San Lorenzo Duomo, Palazzo Ducale, Porta Soprana by Columbus' house, Sant' Andrea cloisters. Check a guidebook or Google. The city has a busy harbor, plus nearby beaches and places like Portofino.
