Honey Beer Bread

My favorite Honey Beer Bread recipe is really easy to make and just delicious. No yeast required and comes together with simple ingredients you have at home. Feel free to leave out the flax seeds if you don’t have any on hand. Make it dairy-free by using vegan butter (your favorite margarine-I like Earth Balance).

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 Tablespoon ground flax seed
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • 1 can Beer 12 Ounce Can
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flours, ground flax seed, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • In a small bowl, combine the beer and honey. Stir the beer mixture into the flour mixture until combined.
  • Pour half of the melted butter into the loaf pan. Spoon the batter onto the butter. Poor the rest of the melted butter onto the batter and with a pastry brush spread it evenly around the entire surface of the batter.
  • Bake for 1/2 on hour at 350 then lower the heat to 325 and bake for about another 30-40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. It will be hard to wait for the bread to cool before serving to slice.
