Taormina is cool and on the east coast of Sicily, very old-world, high atop a hill, with great views. The town’s super walkable and the historic center is pedestrian friendly (called the Corso Umberto), full of stores, cafés and an easy walk for most. But a mobility aid may be a burden since the once-upon-a-time city is now a packed village atop narrow streets situated on hillside cobbles. So, if you have significant mobility issues, it may be time-consuming, a chore, and a bit of a hike. It’s also a small-town experience where everything is within a reasonable walk. It gets steep, so overall it is a good place to stroll as long as you don’t mind a bit of a workout.
