How much time needed in Arezzo?

Arezzo: a great little Tuscan gem, full of history, art, and culture. How long to spend is very much dependent on what you like doing. Two and a half hours by day trip – good idea to get a story, but a bit too rushed to see the main sites, especially if you need to walk between them – Piazza Grande, the Cathedral, the Basilica with those marvelous frescoes. But 2 or 3 days – perfect. You get to go deeper, eat the local food – there’s rosemary in everything – and if you’re energetic, you can get a trip to the nearby Medici Fortress but not quite enough for Cortona, unfortunately.
