Can you walk from Livorno cruise port?

Walking from the cruise port in Livorno to the center of town is possible. But the answer depends upon where your ship ties up. If you are docked at Porto Mediceo, you can easily walk to the principal attractions — the Venice Quarter and Piazza Grande — in about 10 to 15 minutes of brisk walking. If you are at the larger Alto Fondale port, you can’t walk because of safety concerns: you have to take the shuttle or a taxi to town. Normally, the shuttle drops off near Piazza del Municipio, and from there you can see the rest of Livorno on foot. In short, Livorno can definitely be discovered by foot, but getting out of the port may require some help.
