Picking between Bari and Brindisi depends on your vibe. Bari is the capital of Puglia, so it’s the more happening place historically. It enjoys better public transportation and is a perfect launchpad for day trips to the jewels of Puglia: Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. Outside of the charm of Bari’s old town and the fabulous cafés and restaurants, the city is lively. On the other hand, Brindisi is quiet; it’s a natural gateway to Lecce and the beaches of Salento. It has its points of interest, such as the Roman columns and medieval Castello, but it also doesn’t feel as bustling as Bari does. If loud cities are your forte, there is a buzzing feel in Bari. If you want to relax a bit, with easy access to southern Puglia, Brindisi is your playground.
